Natural skin food recipe: my favourite homemade face- & body scrub.
Sugar scrubs are my go-to for softer, smoother skin all over, and probably my favourite skincare product to make from scratch (because it’s just so easy!).
Making it myself also gives me peace of mind, knowing exactly what I’m putting into it- using only natural and organic ingredients, thus avoiding the nasty chemical-filled, store-bought ones.
Not only that, but did you know conventional body scrubs can be incredibly bad for the environment? The scrubs often include tiny plastic pieces, known as microbeads, that end up in our oceans and waterways.
With it being this easy and just so much better for your skin and the environment, there really is no excuse not make it yourself, now is there?
M A K E I T :
Melt the cacao and coconut oil in a bowl – Bain-Marie style with hot water
Add the rest of the ingredients and stir well to combine
Pour the scrub into a sterilised jar or air tight container to store.
H O W T O U S E I T :
Start with clean skin, then either leave your skin wet or dry it gently.
Take a small amount of scrub and smooth it onto your skin, making sure to avoid your eye area if you are using it on your face.
Massage the face scrub all over your skin gently, in circular movements.
You can keep it on for a while if you’d like to (I prefer to let the oils soak in for a bit).
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, pat dry, and follow up with moisturiser.
Although scrubs are something I do genuinely love making from all sorts of natural ingredients at home, this blogpost came as a collaboration with Soaring Free Superfoods, a brand who’s ethos I truly love. From their organic certification, to their sustainable and compostable packaging- they really do check all of the boxes for me.
