Experience the Taj Hotel | Eat & Drink
During our stay, we got to experience all of the different dining experiences that Taj Cape Town has to offer. From afternoon tea in the lobby, cocktails at the bar lounge to an incredible authentic Indian fine dining experience at Bombay Brasserie and a beautiful breakfast buffet at Mint Restaurant & Terrace. The hotel truly does offer the most incredible all-day dining options for hotel guests and visitors, alike.
Start with breakfast at Mint Restaurant & Terrace.
Buffet style at the bistro-inspired, Mint, with plenty of options that catered to any taste. Choose between seasonal fruit, yogurts, cereals and juices, a fresh selection of baked bread and pastries, cold meats and the usual hot breakfast selection including eggs and bacon.
The informal restaurant, overlooking St Georges Mall is open daily to the public or hotel residents from 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sit underneath the umbrellas and trees, dine in the open kitchen area where you can watch your meal being prepared or head up to the mezzanine level for a quieter setting, overlooking the city folk pass by in the Mall below.
The service is excellent and the staff members were incredibly hospitable, friendly and polite, yet still genuinely authentic. Give them a call on +27-021-819-2000 if you’d like to book a table or you can head on over to their website over HERE.
Head to afternoon tea or grab a cocktail at the Lobby Lounge and Bar.
After settling into our room, we headed down for afternoon tea. What awaited us was the most beautiful (and dare I say overwhelming) spread of the most decadent looking sweet treats, with a separate selection of vegan-friendly dessert offerings.
They have a stunning selection of 10 different loose leaf teas and I can highly recommend having a cup the Ayurvedic blend. A special mention has to be made for the chef who happily catered for us veggies when it came to the savory options and even came to check on us to see if we're enjoying it- we certainly did. The sweet options were no exception and after one too many brownies and the first vegan Lamington I've ever had, we settled in with another cup of tea and spent the rest of the afternoon chatting and mentioning probably one too many times how good the food just was.
Afternoon Tea is R195 per person and is served daily from 2-5 PM. For more information or to book a table call +27 (0)21 819 2000 or visit the WEBSITE for more details. The perfect special-occasion treat and I’ll definitely be back soon!
The Lobby Lounge Bar proved to be the perfect place to unwind after our afternoon treats. Serving up the most impressive cocktails, it's a great space for after-work drinks or a quick meeting in an impressive setting.
Dinner at Bombay Brasserie.
Currently undergoing expansion and refurbishment, you can still get a taste of most of Bombay Brasserie signature dishes at Mint Restaurant & Terrace until late August 2019. And a taste of the full menu was all that was needed for me to vow to return as soon as they open after the makeover.
The restaurant is truly one of Cape Town’s finest Indian restaurants, but that doesn't mean the cuisine excludes the strong historical influences from South Africa.
The chef personally came by to welcome us, gave us an overview of the set-menu they have prepared and explained the small tweaks he made to the wide selection of vegetarian-friendly options, to make them vegan-friendly. The service continued to be exceptional throughout our meal and I'm very happy to say that this was the most incredible four-course meal I've ever had.
All in all, I can’t recommend any of the dining options at Taj Cape Town enough. As mentioned, there truly is something for every taste and whether you choose to pop by for breakfast, lunch or dinner, I can guarantee you won’t leave disappointed. The service is exceptional from the first step into the lobby and they were happy to cater to any special dietary requirements. Head on over to the Taj Cape Town WEBSITE or contact them at +27 21-819-2000 or email@example.com if you have any questions, would like to book a table or just want to learn a bit more of what this exquisite hotel has to offer.
